The self-exploration undertaken in working with a therapist, and the insights we gain about the biological basis of our mental states in working with a psychiatrist, are interesting and valuable for their own sake. However, treatment is also an investment.
Your mind is by far the most valuable asset that you have. This means that through committing yourself to exploring and improving yourself mentally, you stand to enrich your life considerably. Great successes, both in our personal and professional lives, are often possible only because of the investment we have made in ourselves up to that point.
Mental Health is an investment.

Most PPO plans provide out-of-network benefits, but we recommend that you speak with your insurance company to confirm. Here are some questions to ask:
Does my plan provide out-of-network benefits for outpatient psychotherapy or psychiatry?
Do I have an out-of-network deductible?
How much of my deductible have I met this year?
What is the allowable amount for psychotherapy or medication management?
What percentage of the allowable amount does my plan reimburse?
-
If you decide to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, we will provide you with a detailed invoice (insurance companies call these a "superbill") that will make this process simple and straightforward.
It usually only takes a couple of minutes to submit a claim and your insurance company's claims person can walk you through what steps to take if you have any questions.
Typically, PPOs provide out-of-network coverage in a phased or stepwise manner. In most cases, within about 20 sessions, the reimbursement is such that your out-of-pocket cost is only slightly higher than would be your in-network copay.
It is a good idea to call your insurance company if you have any questions about your insurance plan. The number for your insurance company should be listed on your insurance card.
-
Superbills are documents that detail specific pieces of information about the practice, the therapist, your diagnosis, the treatment you receive at each session, and the amount you paid.
You will automatically receive a superbill in your Patient Portal at the end of each month.

The private insurance industry in the United States is deeply flawed, prompting many therapists to opt out of accepting insurance. Here are some reasons that therapists elect to not work directly with insurance companies:
Insurance companies sometimes fail to reimburse claims in a timely manner, if at all.
Your therapy can change with your insurance plan. If you switch jobs or your insurance plan changes, you may have to end the relationship you have established with your in-network therapist to start over again with a different therapist.
You have less control of the focus and frequency of your sessions. With in-network care, insurance companies can control how long you can see your therapist. If you are not in a crisis, your insurer may deny further sessions you want or need to maintain the gains you have made, work through stressors, or promote a more full and rewarding life.
While we do not accept or bill private insurance, your insurance plan’s “out-of-network” benefit frequently covers upward of 50% of the cost of treatment. Please see the out-of-network insurance calculator below to get an estimate specific for your insurance plan.
